Our Managing Director, Mark Hall, is now looking for an experienced AAT Qualified Semi-Senior Accountant, ideally with at least 2-3 years’ practice based experience to complement and enhance our existing team.

with business growth.


Hours:                                   37.5 per week

Holidays:                              21 days + bank holidays

Starting salary:                  £20,000 per annum plus bonus scheme and comprehensive benefits package

Pension:                              5% employer contribution

Place of work:                    MJH Office and at Client’s premises when required

Job Description

  • Preparation of annual and management accounts for businesses and charities of all sizes
  • Preparation of VAT returns for businesses of all sizes
  • To undertake book-keeping work for clients both in the office and at clients’ premises
  • Managing, training and providing support / feedback for junior staff
  • Promotion of the firm’s services where possible including representing the firm at business networking
  • / other events
  • Actively developing and proactively contributing to a professional working environment

Person Specification: Key E = Essential; D = Desirable

AAT qualified, ideally with at least 2-3 years’ practice based experience working on accounts

for businesses and charities of all sizes

3 no. A Levels (at B or above) D
5 GCSEs @ Grades A – C (4 – 9) including Grade B (6) GCSE or above in Maths and English E
Excellent spoken and written English E
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the use of Practice Accounting software

(experience of the Digita suite preferable), Xero, Quickbooks and Sage, Microsoft Word, Excel,

Outlook, internet and general computer use.

The ability work as part of a team E
The ability to work with minimum supervision, using own initiative E
Excellent communication / good interpersonal skills E
Excellent organisational and time management skills E
Enthusiasm and flexibility, including willingness to work at other offices in the future E
Full clean driving licence, with access to a car E
