June 2015 Newsletter

Team MJH have a ‘snapping time’ courtesy of Preston Guild Hall and Sophie Paget.

Sophie is one very lucky person winning two prizes as a result of the Lancashire Expo – a bottle of Tattinger from Raecan Marketing Solutions and four tickets to the see The Mousetrap with the compliments of Preston Guild Hall. As Sophie was in Paris last Friday, Mark, and his wife Laura, James and Andrea went to see Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap. What a thrilling time we all had. Although we managed to work out the “how” we failed to detect the “who” and as we were sworn to secrecy by the cast before departure, we aren’t at liberty to share the secret with you! Needless to say, the set was excellent and the cast flawless. It was also extremely satisfying to receive something free for once. Keep on winning Sophie. Feel free to go on to bigger and better things, we are always willing to represent you!

Sparkling in to the final round of the BIBAs!

BIBAs banner

We are proud to announce that we are through to the final round of the BIBAs 2015 in the Professional Service Business of the Year category! We are looking forward to welcoming the Judges to our office on Thursday 18th June. Congratulations to Mark who helped to get us this far. We hope that seeing our premises and the team in action will impress the Judges enough to see us come out winners. Take a look at page 24 of tonight’s Lancashire Evening Post for a full list of all those through to the final round.

Celebrating apprenticeships and offering opportunity.

We value the contribution that every member of our team makes to the business as a whole. We particularly appreciate the enthusiasm and dynamism that young people bring to any team. In recognition of Sophie’s outstanding contribution during her first year with us, we have been delighted to nominate her for Runshaw College’s Apprenticeship Awards 2015. We’ll know early next week if Sophie has been shortlisted.

We are equally pleased to welcome Abdul Aslam to the team for a two week work experience placement. Abdul is already dovetailing well with the rest of the team, undertaking tasks with eagerness and hopefully learning plenty as well. Over the summer we will be offering work experience to two other young people, underlining our commitment to offer opportunities for development and first-hand experience of working in an accountancy practice.

Looking after the welfare of all with Lancashire First Aid Training Ltd.

firt aid

Of course every work place needs a dedicated first aider. As Practice Manager, Andrea has been nominated to take on this role and will be participating in training at the Norman Jepson Premier Inn tomorrow. This isn’t necessarily a role that Andrea would have volunteered to take on, being of a squeamish nature! However, Andrea is hoping that her ability to appear calm (even when she isn’t necessarily) will stand her in good stead and that she will meet the grade. In some respects, Andrea is grateful for the opportunity to learn a new skill, despite this being a challenge for her. As long as Andrea doesn’t get lost ‘en route’, she stands a fighting chance!
